International Essay Contest
2011-2012 Official Topic:
“How my
Positive Outlook Benefits my Community”
Entry Deadline January 13, 2012
The
Optimist Club of Rolla Missouri
is once again proud to offer this contest to the eligible youth of our
area. We will conduct a contest,
award prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd and forward
the winning essay to the District Contest. The District winners will receive a
$2,500 Scholarship and their essay will be entered in the Optimist
International contest.
The
contest is open to students under age 18 as of December 31st of the 2011-2012
school year (December 31st, 2011) who have not yet graduated from high school
or the equivalent. Students must enter in the District in which they reside. U.S. students attending school on military
installations outside the United
States are eligible to enter in their last
home of record.
Contestants
are eligible for only one Club’s Contest during any given year.

Last year
2010 - 2011International Essay
Winner receives special award
Matthew Klassen, sponsored by the Midwestern Ontario District, was chosen as
the International winner of the 2010-2011 Optimist Essay Contest. His entry
on the topic "How My Education is the Key to a Successful Future"
was selected from 48 entries.
Matthew will receive a plaque to commemorate his accomplishment. Thanks to
the generosity of Mike Weber, President and CEO of the VCAN Group, Optimist
International is proud to also award Matthew an iPad 2. The Midwestern
Ontario District will present the award to Matthew during their Fourth
Quarter Conference.
